Sugar Hit Jackpots Slots
Aristocrat are by far not the first slot game manufacturer to release a slot machine which capitalises in the mass market success of the Facebook slot game Candy Crush, indeed even rivals RTG have played that tune, with the Candy Bars slot title.
Like many of their releases the new Sugar Hit jackpot game station features multiple game titles all contributing to a group of progressive jackpots, this keeps the hit frequency of the jackpots stable without taking from the base game results. That doesn’t mean you should expect a low volatility game, Aristocrat clearly list this as a high variance slot game.
The cabinet for the game is exciting too, as it uses the Arc single frame which, as the name suggests, is a single screen version of the new Buffalo slots cabinet using 5.1 surround sound, upgraded graphics capability in full HD and a fully ergonomic design for staying comfortable during those periods of long play.
Theme
The Sugar Fairy is your guide on all four of the available titles, only three have been named so far: Reel Sweet Stacks, Rich Rich Chocolate and Cool I Scooped It Again, we’ve played both the first and last, the chocolate game we skipped, after all, we need to watch our waistlines.
You may, of course, not be familiar with the Sugar Fairy, and for that we don’t blame you! Let us be the voice of enlightenment, she is much like the Tooth Fairy, if the tooth fairy were a flying giggling platinum blond in a pink leotard trying to induce tooth failure through the consumption of sugary treats.
If you do have an issue with the temptations of candy, this will not be a game theme for you, the reels are absolutely packed with all your favourite treats from both childhood and adulthood, after an hour or so I had an unrepentant craving for Jelly Babies.
The graphics and audio tie in well, all the games are bright, vibrant, cartoonish and fun, whilst the audio is a little cheesy but varied and includes an array of sound effects for the base game play, bonus rounds and big win sequences.
Gameplay & Features
Each of the base games has its own individual little symbol and bonus quirks, Reel Sweet Stacks for example has a stacked wild which appears in every free spin issued and at random during the game whilst the scooped title has an array of substituting jackpot symbols.
All the games are 5x3 reel format, with 40 pay-lines and a bet range which is huge, stretching from 0.60 credits to a mammoth 600 credits. The four progressive jackpots have a minimum reset value of 10 / 60 / 300 and 2500 for the Mini, Minor, Major and grand awards respectively, meaning there is always a decent win available.
The chance of hitting one of the progressive jackpot prizes is increased in Reel Sweet Stacks with the Wild Reel feature offering a greater chance of winning the jackpots. Rich Rich Chocolate Respins has a reel re-spin feature like that used in Microgaming’s Bikini Party that provides extra opportunities to win a jackpot. In the Cool I Scooped It Again game you get a chance to win up to five of the same jackpots in a single spin – imagine that on one of the larger prizes!
Summary
We like the theme and the games, the new cabinet layout is also good with players seated around a central station rather than side by side, unless you are on an outing with friends you aren’t that likely to be wanting to chat to the random slot dude next to you after all. Whether or not the stated high variance affects the playability of the slot is a question which goes out to the casino floor, only long term play will show what happens there.
