Back to the Future Slots
Ever since I was a kid I remember thinking that Back to the Future was one of my favorite movies of all time. The films seemed to move me back to a time when such grandiose adventures with excellent graphics were rare, and that really made the adventures of Marty McFly stand out in a great way. I am apparently not the only who felt this way: Back to the Future has been nominated for and won multiple awards, and the movie went on to generate two more sequels, both of which were hits worldwide.
For those of you not familiar with Back to the Future, the series revolves around American teenager Marty McFly, who is pretty much your average kids from the 80’s. He is shy around girls, loves to skateboard, and has befriended an odd scientist who creates zany experiments. Okay, maybe that last part isn’t quite so normal… Anyway, the movie sees the scientist create a time travel machine out of a flux capacitor and a Delorean automobile, which had to get up to 88mph in order to make the time jump. Trouble ensues when the scientist and Marty are going to test the device, as mobsters come and shoot the scientist. Marty escapes by traveling back in time to 1955, where he needs to find a way back to the future, without altering history and erasing himself in the process.
While back in the past, Marty meets his father and mother, who develops a crush on him. He does this by saving his father and falling out of a tree, which leads to his mother meeting him rather than his dad. This creates a very strange dynamic throughout the rest of the film, as Marty works to get his parents to hook back up and to find the only opportune time to travel back to 1985.
International Game Technology has secured the rights to land casino games based on the films, creating the five reel video slot “Back to the Future: Back in Time” as its first title. The game has 40 paylines, a random feature wheel that can award Wilds, Scatters, Win Multipliers, and extra credits.
There are also two bonus features that are titled Outatime! and the Wild West Train Bonus. In the Outatime bonus players are awarded Free Spins and extra win multipliers, while the Wild West Train Bonus has a Pick’em game wherein players select certain symbols which then translate into credits and win multipliers.
Along the way players will be treated to exclusive film clips and booming music that are reminiscent of the classic film franchise, all of which are presented in crisp high definition. The game is part of IGT’s MLD series of games, and also incorporates touch screen features and more. The cabinet features two high definition screens, one of which sits horizontal and the other which sits vertically, allowing for some exciting features to play out above the reels.
This game debuted in land casinos throughout the United States earlier this year, and has been making its way across the region, proving to be quite popular among those who have given it a spin. We have been unable to test this game out thus far, but are highly anticipating the time when we have a chance to go back to the future at a land casino near us!
