Don Juan's Peppers Slots
This slot machine is for the spice lovers out there, for the guys who want to have their mouths burned away from the intense flavour of the peppers and chillies used in their food. They’re the brave fools that pour on the hot sauce rather than lightly drizzle, and they’re definitely the ones who end up silently crying into their drinks while their face is as red as a tomato.
You’re the type of customer Don Juan has been searching for. You’re who he grows and ploughs the fields for.
Don Juan’s Peppers is a uniquely themed online activity from Tom Horn Gaming, telling the indirect story of a Mexican gentleman who loves nothing more than drinking tequila and working under the sun. To make it even more stereotypically Mexican, Don Juan has an old and tired looking donkey who works the farms with him.
Burning Taste Buds
Everyone knows that peppers need a lot of sun to grow big and become so filled with flavour, so it makes sense that we find ourselves immersed in an outdoor scene that is filled with red peppers. Every plant we can see behind the reels is ready for harvesting, and thanks to the minimal cloud coverage, we’ll be able to pick them without the worry of rain.
The only issue with this whole idyllic picture is that we seem to be the only helpers that Don Juan has – and there’s a lot of peppers to be collected before the day is done. Limited time means lots of pressure for all of us, so we can’t delay any longer, we’re going to have to get our hands dirty.
Lay of the Land
There’s a lot of acres to cover, which means getting used to the terrain and knowing the lay of the land will aid in making the task at hand more bearable. Nothing can speed it up though, not even the Autoplays, though they’ll try their best should you decide to use them.
Customers have two sets of plus and minus icons to tap on the controls, one linked to the lines and the other to betting. Don Juan’s Peppers has a lot of winlines, a total of 40, which means that undoubtedly a lot of users will opt to lower the lines to reduce their bet – even a low bet will begin to add up with that many lines. Fortunately you have the breathing room to decrease down to 1 payline.
In regards to the money side of your stake, you can select anything from 0.05 to 0.50, meaning your main bet won’t exceed 20 credits; not a bad amount to risk. It isn’t without risk, but it’s not an unreasonable sum to fund your new job as a pepper picker. Just don’t dip into the kids trust fund or anything like that, that tends to anger spouses.
Don Juan’s users also have an Autoplay opportunity to enjoy, allowing them to spin without any input for a total of 100 rounds, though the option will stop if you run out of money. There’s no counter to tell you how many waves are left, which would have been nice seeing as most of us won’t bother counting once we’re past 10 – something for next time, Tom Horn?
Sticky Stacks
One of the best parts of this slot is that the free spins you can trigger have sticky wilds included for the rounds you win, meaning that the wild can remain in place and create a lot more combos. According to the brand, as many as 20 stickies can be found during the free spins, though we never got anywhere near that amount.
In addition to wilds that stick around, you’ve got Don Juan as a stacked wild, landing on top of himself to fill whole reels; we experienced it in the first few rounds and won 25 credits. It was nice to be able to see a feature in action rather than get but a glimpse.
Stuffed Like a Taco
After harvesting comes the preparing and eating, after which we’re all too fat and tired to be bothered to do anything else. This is how you feel after so many games of Don Juan’s Peppers – not that it’s a bad thing, as feeling full and content is much better than feeling cheated out of your money. We’re sure we’ll be helping Don Juan once more, and we’re positive you’ll be joining us.
