Fantasy Island is the fine combination of island life removed from beaches and sunshine, filled with orcs, elves, goblins and so many more wonders. It’s a place where you can explore the realms of possibility inside a 3x5 network of symbols, with 15 paylines lining up various victories. You won’t have to fight in a conventional sense, but there are definitely plenty of bad guys to aim your arrows at, not to mention plenty of coin to go around with a payout of up to 7,500 gold pieces.
Even though these characters are miniature, they’re incredibly mighty, living and breathing the warrior life they have all chosen. They will wage war with your money, bringing you closer to free rounds and bonus levels.
Damsels, Who Said Anything About Those?
There are no damsels in need of saving here, for all the women involved are tough enough to handle their own problems - just look at the Braveheart looking woman, she is ready to tear down all who stand in her way. And that won’t be you as you know what she needs to soothe her rampaging soul, she needs matches. Five matches. When a player is able to uncover five of this tile upon the reels, they will be given 75 credits for their efforts.
In a twist of irony, it’s the girly looking fairy that is more in charge than any of the other ladies, soaring through the air swift and true with 500 credits tumbling down in her wake; again she needs a match of five. However, even just finding three of the icons will reward 50, which is a tidy if small sum. This redheaded creature is level with the effortless superiority of the male elf and the grumpy demeanor of the blue haired gnome.
Elf Help
Speaking of the elf, who we assume has styled himself on Legolas, he’s the free spins icon and as such will award customers 10 spins. This will happen even if only three of him are found. The rules of this ‘alternate level’ are the same as in the base game, and so you shouldn’t feel out of your depth if you activate it.
Even though the wild doesn’t really assist in any way (it’s an inanimate object), it’s the tile that spews out the most amount of gold, that 7,500 jackpot we touched on at the beginning. What is more, it will take out other symbols save for the bonus game and free spins, a staple feature of most slot machines.
Bonus Orc
Orcs are terrible and merciless creatures, or at least that’s the story we’re traditionally fed, here however they adopt a more giving approach; at least three icons are needed before the mini level will start. And even then you’ll have to tap the ‘Bonus Game’ widget on the control panel before anything exciting happens - talk about delaying the action!
This orc, which WorldMatch have referred to as a warlock, goes on a goblin hating mission, taking them out with his wand and making them into beautiful winged women. Every time this happens money will be given to you and your account, with the end result being a lot of cash and the orce becoming a prince. It’s not going to stress your brain out, but it’s a nice detour from merely spinning the 5-reels.
The Currency of Battle
When it comes to betting in this game, the controls are designed with ease of use in mind – there’s a lot of clicking your mouse, but not much else. Boring for your fingers but easy going at the end of it all. The range users have to explore is between 0.01 and 1 credit, which is then placed upon all the winlines.
As is common in a lot of slots, the paylines can be decreased, but don’t be fooled into believing this makes the title any easier. With less places for potential wins to land, the game becomes more volatile, and Fantasy Island seems to be oozing with volatility already – we barely ever got a win.
Fantastical
It would be wrong to make out that this game does something that others do not, and it would be a complete lie; Fantasy Island adheres to the rules and does so successfully. It’s a reasonable game with varying enjoyment, but not a hard hitter that instantly impresses.
