The Reel Mob Slot Machine
If there’s one thing that Casino Web Scripts do well, it’s making an online slot machine as exclusive and unique to them as possible.
Sometimes it’ll be down to the aesthetics alone, or it’ll be a mix of various elements, coming together to form a superior gaming experience. The latter is what players receive when playing The Reel Mob.
Even though the title makes the 5 reels and 15 winlines sound very bland, you’ll soon see that the game is anything but, in fact, it’s probably one of the bloodiest activities we’ve ever played. From the online casino sector that is. Given the age all players have to be before gambling, it seems surprisingly that other real cash slots haven’t gone quite so faux violent before now.
The gun holes on the reels can appear at any time, but the real blood comes from the gamble option at the end of each winning round, or from the robbery of the bonus round. As always, the Mini, Mega and Major Jackpots return, as too do the free spins and expanding wilds, the latter two having been missed from some of their other titles.
Full on Noir
You don’t need to be a film student to be able to identify a noir aesthetic when you see it – black and white, moody music, enhanced blood splatters and you have the makings of a classic thriller on your hands. The Reel Mob hasn’t been half heartedly developed and left unfinished, but has been carefully crafted, with every blank having been filled in, giving much needed texture and context to the game.
Onto the more boring aspects of the slot and its layout, the title sits at the top of the screen, with the controls underneath the matrix, and the 3x5 grid in the middle; nothing out of the ordinary when you look at it from this angle. That isn’t an issue though, as the graphics provide enough newness, while the structure provides familiarity.
Your Best Poker Face
A surly looking man dressed in black, playing a round of cards, is your way to gain entry into the bonus game, with a minimum of three matches needed to trigger the level. Should you tick all the boxes up to this point, you’ll be taken to a street scene, lined with several interactive markers: a car, ATM, a lone woman. Just your standard setting. Apart from the red ‘ROB’ tag placed underneath all of them, indicating that you can case the joint and win some cold hard cash.
Players can select whichever ones they like, however there is always a ‘COLLECT’ hiding in one of them, lying in wait to end the round. In our playthrough, we obtained a couple of wins before the spoilsport showed up and shut down our fun, but you may not be as lucky as us.
Like a Hole in the Head
Remember how we said that the gamble feature was bloody? It has something to do with shooting holes in your own head; allow us to explain. When you’ve got some funds to risk, you’ll be asked to collect or gamble, which you’ve probably seen before, however when the screen loads, you’ll be shown a man holding a gun to his head.
After the macabre nature of the image has settled in, you have to decide between gambling and shooting or leaving your bullets spare for another day. By opting to shoot, you take the risk that a bullet could be released and the character killed, thus losing your money.
Welcome to the Family
The Reel Mob is a slot machine of epic proportions, giving users a slice of everything they could possibility want. What will probably entice people in the most, is the fact that the betting range is so diverse, giving low-pay users and wannabe high rollers the chance to play to their heart’s content. Even those without money can still play, though the rewards will never develop into anything tangible.
Despite the theme being one that anyone can enjoy, in theory, in practice it’s more of a design that will appeal to a smaller portion of gamers. After all, not everyone wants to play a double or nothing when a gun is involved, virtual or not. What is more, if you can’t stand detective movies and thrillers, the entire atmosphere of the game will be wasted on you; to truly play this game is to understand the foundations that created it.
