Carry on Camping Slots
Movie adaptations are a growing trend on the slot game market, and since The Hoff (inspired by the career of David Hasselhoff), nothing really surprises us. In Carry on Camping, a video slot game from Core Gaming, players get to re-experienced the 1969 British comedy from the Carry On series.
You might not have seen it, but if you have you will be pleased to know that the humour has stayed the same and the jokes are just as subtle and delicate as they were in the original film.
This 5x3 slot game offers quite a lot of bonus features, associated with different characters from the film, and proves generous if you are willing to play big. The average volatility makes big wins accessible to all, so without further ado let’s take a look at Carry on Camping and see what it has to offer in our complete review.
The Joys of Outdoor Life
Just like most film adaptations, Carry on Camping was designed to match the universe of the original movie as closely as possible. The action is therefore taking place on a camping ground, with a few yellow tents in the background and the reels placed between wooden sticks. The characters on and around the reels are 3D caricatures of the original actors.
Even the command buttons at the bottom of the screen are fitting nicely within the rest of the universe, making Carry on Camping a very coherent slot game – if not particularly beautiful to look at. But players are here to win big and have a good laugh, after all, so let’s see how to do both in our next section.
Click and Win
Carry on Camping is based on 5 reels and 20 paylines, which are fixed. The command buttons on the side of and below the reels will let you chose a wager from 0.20 to 500 credits per turn.
Spin the reels manually or use the autoplay game mode in order to place the same bet several times in a row on the reels. Carry on Camping has an average RTP of 95.63%, which puts it on the average of the market.
The game’s medium volatility makes it quite dynamic, and we had fun watch the reel animations and mini scenes from the movie pop up on the screen as we scored prizes.
In that department, Carry on Camping has a varied paytable with both card icons and camping gear like a mini van or a portable stove, with a maximum prize of x25 at stake. Beyond this average set of cash rewards, Carry on Camping has quite a few bonus features to offer.
It’s all about the Little Extras
The camping tent is the first special symbol of Carry on Camping: a wild card, able to replace the other basic symbols on the reels and worth up to x25 as well. We managed to find wilds on the reels quite often as we played, and we could count on them to help us on the way to larger payouts as well. Wilds can also expand at random.
Carry on Camping features 4 different bonus rounds in total. To trigger them, you need a bonus tent on reels 1 and 3, plus one of the triggering characters on reel 5. You can either win extra wilds with Sid, reshuffle the reels with Kenneth, get an entirely new set of symbols on the screen with Haggard or win lucky spins with Bab. The beach balls are a little easier to find on the reels, and we were able to score free spins (up to 20) thanks to them on a fairly regular basis.
Fun for the Entire Family
Carry on Camping was designed for fans of the original movie first and foremost. We had never seen it, and some references were a little hard to get, but if you like baseline humour and cartoon characters then you are in for a treat.
The many different bonus games add some depth to the basic gameplay and really turn Carry on Camping into more of a challenge for the most ambitious players, which is something we really appreciated after a while playing the game.
