House of Scare Slots
GamesOS’ mobile slots for real money seem to cover two opposite areas. Some are very plain and simple, so plain that it is hard to work out a good reason to play them. Others are graphically rich, full of interesting features and have entertaining themes. Fortunately, House of Scare is firmly in the second category. This is a high-quality slot based on a Halloween theme, with some beautiful graphics and fast, smooth gameplay. There is an entertaining coffin race break out bonus and a respin feature within the reels too. Best of all, this game comes with the potential for big wins – and can be played for pennies.
The classic haunted house graphics in the background of this slot are exceptional – this is almost worth loading up the slot to see on its own. Symbols spin over a transparent view of the front door of this house, and there are lines between them which could be showing different floors. Monsters on display include a pumpkin in a hat, zombie, teddy bear with pins in it, ghost, pillow case monster, vampire and something with yellow hair that I am not able to name. There are also potions on the reels. One humorous touch is to call the scatter symbols ‘Scare-ter’. The music is classical, this is dark and fun at the same time and changes as it plays. You’ll hear the clanging of bells when a win comes in and clicking of the reels as you spin.
In addition to the break out ‘coffin race’ bonus, there is an on-reel respin feature. This slot does not have a free spins game, though there are both scatter symbols and wilds.
Setup and Play for House of Scare
Behind the monsters, you’ll find a 5 reel, 3 row, 25 line video slot. This can be played for 1c per line (lines are selectable) or for 20c per line if you prefer. You can gamble after wins using a standard card flip guessing game. There is the usual GamesOS auto-spin setup, which is configurable and lets you take up to 2000 spins at a time.
Wilds, which show a female monster in a red hat, have the biggest prize in this game. This is worth 5000 coins if you can land 5 on a win-line and 500 coins for 4 (pay-outs down to 2). Wild symbols take the place of any regular symbol to complete wins, excluding the scare-ter and coffin bonus symbols.
Pay-outs for the monsters are headed up by the ghost, which is worth 1000 coins for 5 then the hello haired monster at 300 coins. Vampire and zombie come next at 200 coins each with the other symbols making up the smaller wins. With a combination of wilds and respins, you’ll find a reasonable amount of wins coming in for this game – which I would rate as medium volatility.
Scatters only appear on reels 1, 3 and 5. If you get 3 then you win 25x your total bet. If you land 2 of these, then the reels which include them are held, while the other 3 reels are spun again. These spin backwards. This is a great way of bagging some extra wins.
The purple coffin symbol with ‘bonus’ written on it is also a scatter symbol, 5 of these will bag you 600x your total bet, 4 100x that bet and 3 15x your bet. 3+ will also take you to the coffin race bonus.
House of Scare Bonus Game
Before you get to the coffin car race, you’ll need to pick a driver from the range of monsters to represent you. There is a choice of 3. You then go to a top down view of a racetrack, complete with green lighting. The cars are very small, though your one will have a green highlight around it. There is a race which is 2 laps, before the finishing positions are decided. You are then awarded a cash prize depending on how your driver did. This is an entertaining enough bonus – though there is not too much in the way of involvement (only picking your driver, the rest is automatic).
House of Scare Slot – Conclusion
I loved this game – it has a great balance between solid enough game-play and features, and looks great too. The chance to respin adds wins when you least expect them, and the monsters keep you entertained while you wait for this and the race bonus to hit. The graphics and music are excellent too. I’ll be playing this one again at some point down the line, and recommend you put it on your list of slots to check out too.
