The gorgeous background is a realistic view of the tropical jungle, with plenty of details to lose yourself into. The reels themselves are framed by a massive stone structure reminiscent of Mayan architecture.
The ominous musical theme playing throughout the game reinforces the game universe even further, and the final result is quite impressive. A well-designed and believable world that you will not be able to wait to explore once you have launched the game.
Find your Way Around
Treasure Compass is built on a simple and familiar set of rules that will help you get started very fast. Here is a quick introduction for beginner players.
The five reels of the game contain three symbols each, and 20 paylines run across the screen as well. All winning combinations of symbols on a payline pay from left to right. Use the arrows located below the reels in order to increase or decrease the size of your total bet. Remember that a bigger bet also means larger winnings in the future. Hit the red Spin button as soon as you feel confident enough to venture into the jungle, and cross your fingers for big wins.
Another way to play the game is through the Autospin mode. As the name suggests, this game mode will put the reels on autopilot and place your bet continuously for as long as you like. You can customise your settings so the game stops automatically after you have won a certain amount of money, or after you have played a certain number of spins for instance.
Collect the Symbols to Win Big
The paytable of Treasure Compass is filled with details that fit perfectly within the game universe chosen by the developers.
Even the first symbols, the classic Jack, Queen, King and Ace, were redesigned to resemble Mayan hieroglyphs. A nice touch for very common card-inspired symbols. As always, these icons are the most common on the reels and pay the least.
A variety of Mayan artefacts constitutes the higher end of the symbol menu. In order of value, you have a Necklace, a Gold Chest, a Mast, a Statue, a pair of Armbands and a golden Idol. All items are filled with details and look really nice – even nicer when they line up and trigger big wins in an instant. But there are even more special features in Treasure Compass that we need to mention here.
Going Beyond the Standard Rules
The Compass is the Wild card of the game, and it can only appear in the middle position on reel 3. Upon landing, the Compass will point in two different directions, turning the adjacent symbols into more Wilds instantly.
You can also decide to raise the stakes even higher and use the unique Ante Bet option. Click the green jewel in the upper left-hand corner of the screen to open a Multiplier menu. By placing an extra bet in addition to your standard wager, you add a Multiplier to the Wild Compass. The more you put on the table, the higher the Multiplier. You can add up to a x10 Multiplier to the game.
The Pyramid symbol is a Scatter, which means that it can trigger rewards regardless of alignment with other Scatters. One Pyramid appearing on screen at the same time as the compass awards a Respin, where the orientation of the Compass will change as well. Three or more Pyramids on the reels without any Wilds award a mystery prize that can go up to 1000 times the value of your original bet.
A Little More than a Stroll in the Jungle
Treasure Compass revisits a popular slot game theme and adds a little bit of originality in terms of gameplay – not to mention stunning graphics.
The mechanics of the Ante Bet system and the interactions between the Wild and Scatter symbols are not very intuitive and might appear a little confusing at first, but as always practice makes perfect.
