Queen of Thrones Online Slot Machine Review
You might have something of a shock when you first enter this game, because it’s not entirely clear whether you are playing a slot or having a game of chess, the reels filled entirely with chess pieces. These pieces are even a combination of white and black (well, grey and brown to precise) just as you would find on a chess board. Each basic spin at this slot works in the same way as at any other slot, as you’ll need to land symbols in a row on a win line to win a cash pay-out (from left to right), however the chess part of the game comes during the features of the slot.
This is a very nice looking game, the chess pieces nicely drawn and having a character of their own, all performing a little animation when becoming part of a win. The background to the slot is a chess board, which perhaps isn’t a surprise, the board placed outside on the grass on a sunny day. The sound at this slot is particularly good, an almost movie-like theme building up the tension as you play, which improves during the feature rounds.
The features at this game are all very original – two of them based entirely upon the rules of chess and the other a pick me round where you win cash prizes.
Set up and Play for Queen of Thrones
Although there is much different about this slot, the basics are the same as what you’ll find at many others, with five reels and three symbols on each reel. The slot has a fixed 30 win lines and an auto play option where you’ll set the game to play uninterrupted for up to 25 spins.
The wild symbol in the game features three different chess pieces and will substitute for every other symbol apart from the bonus ones. This is also the highest paying symbol as you’ll win 2,500x your coin amount when landing 5 in a row. The rank of the chess piece dictates how much you’ll win with the other symbols, the King being the most valuable and the pawn being the least – the colour of the pieces is irrelevant as you’ll still win with a mix of white and black pieces.
There are three different features on this slot, two of which are activated using a scatter symbol and the other which makes use of the centre square of the slot.
Queen of Thrones Slot Features
The first feature of the game is ‘The Throne’. This is activated when the Queen symbol appears on the centre square of the slot. This will lead to the Queen capturing all of the adjacent symbols to it and turning them all wild. With multiple wilds on the reels, this will lead to many more wins.
In the free spins round you’ll win either 10, 15 or 30 free spins dependent on whether you land the ‘free spins’ scatter symbol 3, 4 or 5 times. At the start of the round you will be assigned either ‘white’ or ‘black’ and you’ll want a piece of your colour to land on the centre position on reel 3. If this happens, the piece will ‘capture’ other pieces on the slot, turning them all wild. The pieces that are captured depend on the chess piece – the rook for example capturing adjacent pieces and the bishop capturing diagonally.
The ‘Big Capture’ bonus round is activated when landing the appropriate symbol on reels 1, 3 and 5. You’re met by a chess board of 25 squares behind which are hidden all of the 16 black chess pieces. You’ll also find some X’s and some extra picks. Every black piece you choose wins you a prize, every X wins you nothing and the extra picks extend the round.
Queen of Thrones Slot Conclusion
With so many slots out there, it can be very difficult to find a truly original take on the casino favourite. However, Leander has certainly managed it here with one of the most unique slots in the industry. The fact that it’s unique isn’t the only bonus here however – it looks great, the sound is perfect and the features bring the game to life.
If you play chess this slot will appeal, but even if you don’t you’ll still enjoy this slot as the game doesn’t actually require knowledge of the game (although you’ll understand more why you’ve won if you do play). This is an excellent slot by Leander; I recommend that you take it for a spin soon.
