Wanted man found
Police have killed a murder suspect at a casino in Washington State, leading to a temporary closure of the venue.
Authorities wanted Darren Evans on two counts of first-degree murder and unlawful possession of a firearm stemming from a September 2022 incident. On Sunday, Chehalis Tribal police and Thurston County Sheriff’s Office received information that the 33-year-old was inside the Lucky Eagle Casino.
When police attempted to make contact with Evans, he ran towards the casino exit. Upon attempting to flee, an officer fired shots, resulting in the fatal shooting of Evans. Attempts to revive him proved unsuccessful.
I didn’t see a direct threat from the man”
It’s not known whether Evans had a firearm on him at the time. An eyewitness at the casino said he thinks Evans was making his way to the front door exit before the officer fired the shots, adding: “I didn’t see a direct threat from the man.” Chehalis Tribal police have yet to clarify whether Evans posed a threat to officers.
Following the shooting, a representative for the Lucky Eagle Casino said that it would remain temporarily closed until further notice in response to the tragic event.
