Bucaneiros Slot Machine
Shiver me timbers! It’s the swashbuckling Bucaneiros, Proprietary Games' online video slot
Prepare to beat all the landlubbers to the booty with this swashbuckling game where you spin the reels to win cash prizes.
But will you walk away with a bag full of swag? Here’s a review of Bucaneiros with everything you need to know.
Face the Dreaded Buccaneers
With Bucaneiros, Proprietary Games have created an online video slot with a pirate theme, but this is no friendly bounty hunter - as you’ll be able to tell from the sneer on his face.
Get ready to face the most mutinous and terrifying pirates in the land, who would turn on their own family in return for a bottle of rum!
The head honcho, complete with blinged teeth, will face you below the reels alongside his sharp, curved cutlass – just in case you should forget exactly what you’re up against. The reels are set deep in the heart of the pirate ship, and you’ll just be able to make out the shape of the masts poking out from behind.
The snarling buccaneer appears on the reels too, alongside a fearsome array of symbols such as a cannon, a hook, the Jolly Roger flag, a skull and crossbones and another pirate being forced to walk the plank – with a hungry shark awaiting!
The buttons are brightly coloured and bold and situated alongside the right of the reels, making the controls intuitive and easy to use.
Ahoy There!
Before you get ready to take on the buccaneers in a deadly game, take some time to look around the ship to see what treasure could be won.
To do this you’ll need to view the paytable which can be accessed by clicking on the big blue “help” button on the right.
The paytable is fairly basic and only held on just two screens so that makes it easier to see at a glance exactly what’s up for grabs.
The familiar pirate is the top prize, earning you a win of 10,000 if you match five symbols on an active payline. You don’t need to match five symbols to be a winner though; the symbols will pay out for a match of just three. Of course, the more you match the bigger your prize will be so keep your fingers crossed!
Unlike other games which play strictly from left to right, Bucaneiros provides prizes for some lines where the winning combination runs from right to left. The paytable shows clearly where this applies and what you’ll need to spin in order to win.
Plunder the Booty
Once you’ve finished surveying the swag, return to the main game to start your attack on the booty and spin those reels in a bid to win.
But just before you start, you’ll need to set up your stake as not everyone wants to play in the same way.
There are 5 reels in Bucaneiros, set up in the standard 5x3 configuration with a maximum of 20 paylines available. You don’t have to unlock all of these for play; it’s up to you how many you choose. The more paylines which are active, the greater your chance of winning – but the higher the stake will be too. It’s up to you to decide how you want to play for the best chance of grabbing a prize.
As well as altering the paylines you can also change the amount of the coin. The minimum is 1 and the maximum is 10, and this is multiplied by the number of active paylines to get the total bet. This ability to alter both the paylines and the coin value provides great versatility to the game and accommodates both high and low betters.
There’s no multipliers, free spins, wild or scatter symbols in this game but there are a number of different bonuses you can win simply by spinning the treasure chest in the right position.
Swashbuckling Fun
Everyone loves a good pirate yarn and Bucaneiros is certainly no exception. The game is rather basic compared to other video slots, and there’s a real absence of extra features but there are a number of bonuses prizes which compensate somewhat.
The gameplay is smooth but the graphics could be sharper, certainly in the paytable at least, and all these factors combined mean that more experienced players may find it doesn’t keep them entertained for too long. However for those new to video slots, it’s a great play and well worth having a spin.
