Lucky Monkey is a cool name for an online casino. Unfortunately there is nothing remotely cool about this particular Lucky Monkey casino. Actually, the logo is kind of smart, featuring a sunglasses-wearing monkey engraved upon a playing card. Everything else about this site is awful however. It all starts with a featured slider which is loaded with images that are so large that they take as much as a minute to load on desktop and goodness knows how much longer on mobile.
It doesn't help that the featured images include the same generic promotions that are operate at all ProgressPlay sites. It seems unlikely that many players are likely to be won over by the fact that there is a promotion here named Monday Madness, one which uses the exact same image as can be found at all of this operator’s other sites. On a brighter note, there’s some quality slots to be played here, the credit for which has to go to NetEnt. Lucky Monkey might be a rotten site but NetEnt games are still good whatever site you happen to play them at.
Lucky monkey is operated by ProgressPlay Limited who are based in Malta, Valletta to be precise. They are licensed by the Malta Gaming Authority as well as by the UK Gambling Commission. The site was founded in 2012 which seems to have been a bumper year for ProgressPlay as this is when many of their other casinos also came to life. Unfortunately, Lucky Monkey looks very 2012. The site isn't hopelessly out of date, but it is still using typefaces and other elements which require some effort to make out on small screens.
The remainder of the About page is taken up with describing how Lucky Monkey is committed to promoting responsible gambling and how it utilizes 128-bit SSL to keep customer data secure. If you require customer services while playing at the site you can get hold of a team member 24 hours a day by using the contact form on the website. There is also live chat available. Although Lucky Monkey is designed to be a supposedly mobile-friendly site, this site is barely functional on desktop and so don't count on enjoying the slickest or most mobile-friendly experience should you attempt to sign up and get involved on an iPhone or Android.
One good thing about ProgressPlay sites is that they offer a wide range of deposit options. Not only that but they also go into great detail about how each of these deposit options works. The default currencies that are available comprise the British pound, euro, dollar and Swedish krona. You can deposit funds by card using Visa, Mastercard or Maestro. Other options are Paybyphone which is for UK customers allowing them to deposit between £10 and £30 a day, as well as Neteller, Skrill, iDeal, Sofort, Paysafecard, Trustly and a few others.
As for withdrawals, you can again use the same options in most cases aside from Paybyphone which is for deposits only. Any time you go to make a withdrawal it will be marked as pending for the first three days and thereafter there will be another one business day while the transaction is marked as Processing. After that you will then have to wait another 6 business days in the case of card for funds to be returned to you. In practice this means any time you go to make a withdrawal from Lucky Monkey it will take you about two weeks to get your money. This seems an unreasonably long amount of time and is another reason why this casino loses points for its poor customer service.
When you sign up at Lucky Monkey you can claim a 100% welcome bonus worth up to €200. This cash is subject to a 50x wagering requirement before it can be withdrawn. Then there is the Monday Madness promotion mentioned earlier which offers very little of interest and isn't really worth dwelling on. The promotions page on the site is clearly designed for desktop players cos every time you hover over each of promotions a small effect sees the image shake slightly. This is something which won't be replicated on mobile.
Type | Amount | Match | Playthrough | Claim |
---|---|---|---|---|
Welcome Bonus | €200 | 100% | 50x | Claim Bonus |
The remaining generic promotions comprise an extreme blackjack marathon, a weekly surprise that is awarded every Tuesday, a game of the day every Wednesday there are free spins and live dealer cashback of up to 30% at weekends. There's also a happy hour and a golden ball roulette tournament which wraps up the generic promotions to be found at Lucky Monkey.
The slots that are available at Lucky Monkey are dominated by NetEnt, which isn't a bad thing because it means you get to play their branded games such as Ted and Jurassic World. In fact most of the Swedish developer’s most recent slots can be found here which is good to see. Admittedly the same games are showing at all the other sites run by the same operator, but judged as a stand-alone casino, there is nothing wrong with the slots to be found here. That being said, the remaining slots by lesser known developers aren't nearly as impressive, but thankfully the NetEnt games more than compensate for this. There is a selection of jackpot games too which includes the usual suspects such as Cash Splash and Treasure Isle.
Unfortunately the value of their progressive jackpots isn't displayed so you can't tell which of these games has the highest jackpot at present. Elsewhere on the site you will find a capable selection of table games including plenty of blackjack, roulette and video poker. These aren't the classiest looking games but they still serve their purpose and are no worse than the sort of table games you will find at other online casinos. Lucky Monkey has a live casino too and it is one where you can play a few variants of blackjack as well as a few versions of roulette all while interacting with live dealers. Completing proceedings at the casino is a section of casual games comprising titles such as Epic Gems and Fruit Warp to keep you amused for a while. There is also one bingo game to be found here and one keno game.
Lucky Monkey is another cheap looking site from an operator who specialise in cheap looking sites. There are some reasonable games here, that much is true, but otherwise there is nothing here that passes muster. The whole site just doesn't attract you in any shape or form. It is a mystery why the operator of this site haven't gone back and updated some of their casinos or tried to differentiate them from one another in any kind of way. The generic promotions are particularly disappointing, leaving Lucky Monkey as a site which has a cool logo and name but which sucks in almost every other respect.
