Crime City Slot
Big cities tend to attract criminals en masse, threatening the livelihood of local businesses and the welfare of private citizens alike. The larger the metropolis, the more organised criminal gangs will get and the more crucial the work of the police force will become.
After RTG’s very classy London Inspector, we are here to introduce Crime City, a video slot game developed by Roundstone International with a grittier feel and some interesting features to unlock along the way.
The 5x3 setup of the game is modern and offers players a direct immersion at the heart of the most dangerous districts of an unnamed and sprawling city. Danger could be at every corner, but rest assured that there are many ways to win big in this low-volatility slot machine. Let’s have a look at it in our full review and figure out how to make the best of your time behind the badge.
Be the Law
Crime City is a minimalistic slot game that manages to create an entire atmosphere with relatively few elements in view. The reels themselves are more like adjacent columns of round symbols floating on top of a dark grey background, probably a close-up on one of the city’s pavements. The screen is framed by the iconic black and yellow crime scene tape, which also supports the different command buttons at the bottom of the screen.
Crime City might not be the most impressive slot game on the market, but it still manages to make an impression with few graphic elements - something that Roundstone International is well-known for. Crime City has a lot to offer in terms of gameplay as well, as we will see in our next section here.
From Chaos, Order
Playing Crime City is as simple as clicking a few buttons before spinning the reels. The 5x3 layout of the game is home to 9 paylines, which you can activate at will with the arrow buttons in the command bar. Choose a line bet from 0.01 credit and you are ready to spin the reels. You can use the autoplay game mode to put the game on autopilot at will as well.
After a win on the reels, you will get access to the Crime City mini game, which will give you a chance to double up that particular cash win.
The basic paytable of Crime City is putting players on the side of law enforcement once and for all. You will find guns, police badges and cars, a judge’s hammer, top secret documents and more spinning on the reels, with a maximum reward equivalent to 5,000 times the value of your line bet. Not a bad way to start a new career, but remember that Crime City is a low-volatility slot game, which makes small wins much more likely. Fortunately, the game has a few extra tricks to help put the odds back in your favour.
No Crime Shall Stay Unpunished
In Crime City, the top secret file is the most common symbol on the reels. You can only win up to x100 with it, but file combinations can also give you access to an instant respin, as a way to increase your chances to score a larger reward next time around.
The safe is, on the contrary, the rarest symbol in the game. Worth up to x10,000, you can also access the Crime City bonus game thanks to it. Do your best to try and rid the city of crime and some additional cash prizes should immediately follow.
Criminals don’t Stand a Chance
Crime City proves that you do not always need top-notch animations and 3D graphics to make an addictive and engaging slot game. The gameplay is smooth and the paytable includes some very generous rewards.
Do keep in mind that, as in most Roundstone International games, Crime City has a low-variance and that you will therefore need to keep the reels spinning for a little while until the biggest rewards become available.
RTG’s London Inspector, which we have mentioned before, takes a more Victorian approach to the whole law enforcement universe. Try out this other slot game if you would rather stick to higher volatility settings and RTP (up to 97%).
