Slingo Britain’s Got Talent

Slingo Britain’s Got Talent by Slingo Originals is a curiously named game. It’s curiously named in that it has absolutely nothing to do with Britain’s Got Talent the television show apart from borrowing its logo. There’s no theme tune from the show, no video clips, no animations, no symbols based on it and no talent whatsoever. Slingo Originals seem to have obtained the permission to use the name and logo of the show and then stopped there. Instead, they’ve got a red-nosed joker which appears in the logo for this game. Aside from the fact that it looks kinda creepy, it has absolutely no connection with BGT.

You might not find any elements of your favourite talent-based ITV show here, but you will find a 5x5 bingo board and a few ways to win. As online casino games go, Slingo Britain’s Got Talent is reasonably well designed but unfortunately it’s Flash-based. As a consequence, this isn’t a mobile-compatible game and you may also have issues getting it to work in the Chrome browser on desktop. It’s odd that there are developers still working in Flash, for the percentage of internet-connected devices that can access this content is diminishing by the day.

Slots Meet Bingo

Slingo is a concept that Slingo Originals seem to be immensely proud of. It’s not revolutionary, but it is at least a means of adding a little colour to bingo, a game that isn’t famed for providing a thrill a second. 75-ball bingo, after all, involves nothing more than watching as 5 balls at a time are drawn and hoping that those balls match those on your bingo card. At least here you’ve got the odd joker symbol appearing to liven things up. You want jokers and bonus symbols? You got ‘em. You want singers and jugglers and fire breathers? Go watch Britain’s Got Talent.

Despite its failings, Slingo Britain’s Got Talent does have some things in its favour, like the fact that you can win up to 20,000 coins from it. To achieve that though you’ll need to score full house and to be playing with the max bet set, which stands at 100 coins. If you’d prefer to adopt a low limit approach and keep things conservative, you can play with as little as 0.5 per spin. The playing controls are neatly laid out, with a bright green start button that’s been subtly animated, moving gently as if urging you to give it a push. Everything’s subtle here when it comes to animations; the movement of the balls in the spinner is particularly lacklustre. Slingo Originals haven’t exactly stretched themselves here.

Hope For a Joker

The way that Slingo Britain’s Got Talent works is when you press start, 5 numbers will appear at the bottom of the screen. Hopefully one or more of these numbers will resemble those on your grid. You’re aiming to complete at least one line of numbers, just as you would while playing 75-ball bingo. The difference here is that you’ve got 11 spins in which to do so. Keep hitting the start button and another 5 numbers will be drawn. This could all get pretty boring pretty quickly, but thankfully Slingo Britain’s Got Talent has a few tricks up its sleeve.

The primary trick that will help bring this game to life is the provision of joker symbols. From time to time, they’ll appear below the screen in the space reserved for one of the balls that would otherwise be drawn. When a joker shows up, it’s up to you to select one of the clickable numbers on the board and tick it off – that’s what the joker symbol does. The more jokers that appear during the course of your 11 spins, the easier it will be to complete bingo lines. You’ll receive just 10 coins in exchange for a complete line, and that’s wagering 100 at a time. If you succeed in completing 6 lines during a game though you’ll earn 400 coins. 10 lines are worth 5,000 and full house will fetch you the full 20,000.

Not so Talented

If you can put the BGT connection out of your mind and just treat Slingo Britain’s Got Talent as a regular slingo game, it’s fine. If you were hoping to be entertained with an experience akin to that of watching Britain’s Got Talent however, you’ll be out of luck. This is a playable enough game, but only if you can get it to load in the first place. It won’t work on iPhone or Android and it might not work on desktop either. There are better games out there than Slingo Britain’s Got Talent, and that’s being kind.
