Queen of the Skies Slot
You don’t need to have majored in history to know who Amelia Earhart was – she was the first woman to fly across the Atlantic Ocean single handedly, showing women across the world that anything was possible. Due to her amazing feats, she has been seen as a ‘queen of the skies’, hence the tribute to her in this slot machine by Spin Games.
Spin Games are well praised for their dynamic slot themes and innovative edge, so it’s not surprising that they chose such an unusual theme for this online activity. In it you’ll take to the air like Earhart herself, touching the whites of clouds as you soar ever higher. Up above those clouds is where all the treasure is that is only fitting for a queen such as this.
Flying High
When the game loads you’ll be struck by how bright it is, it practically glows thanks to that brilliant blue sky background. After your eyes have adjusted slightly, you’ll finally be able to take in the 3x5 matrix that houses all the winning symbols - it’s a very standard and uninspiring box, with a couple of gold crowns placed on the top corners. So far so average.
Moving onto the symbols, there are 14 in total, which is quite a lot for a slot game, normally they cap off at around 10 or 11. Most of these are what we’d call basic tiles, in that they give money but do little else; some of them have high payouts of around 500 credits, while others are a measly 2. It all depends on how many of them you find, with five always being the magic number.
If you want the most from this game you’ll be looking to avoid landing the card suits, and be aiming for the high flying plane symbols, for they have the most cash to gain outside of the special features. Nonetheless, none of them compare to the money that Earhart herself brings at a breezy 2,000 credits per five matches. This is also the wild of the game and so will sub other symbols to make way for more winning combinations.
Bonus Flight
The jet-packing icon of a plane crossing over the globe is your bonus symbol, and three of them will be needed in order to trigger the feature game. When this happens you will be asked to select between several planes, with the one you chose revealing a random multiplier, which is then assigned in the free spins round. Before you get there though, you need to choose between destinations to determine which symbol will become stacked in these extra waves. Finally the game will start and you’ll spin your way through 10 rounds, with the multiplier and chosen icon keeping your money climbing higher.
Bumpy Landing
You need to come back down to earth at some point, but you get to choose when that is by selecting your bet configuration range and payline amounts. Both of these actions are easy to carry out thanks to the well-labelled widgets beneath the reels.
Although you will begin with all paylines, you can reduce them down as you see fit, essentially taking out the risk of some bad turbulence, though without risk comes less potential gain. Then you need to move onto the bet per line button, which starts at 1 and works up to 20, with the max bet option helping you out if you’re going for gold. After which you decide the amount each coin you place is worth. It’s a tedious process, so if you can skip to the max bet, do so.
An Underwhelming Queen
This game should be exceptional for it tells a story of an historic woman, but sadly it just doesn’t do Earhart justice. It has some good points that make it worth a punt, but it won’t be one we reload for a second time.
