Craps is a popular dice game, typically played in a casino as well as in informal settings. It is played with a pair of dice in which players bet on dice rolls. When one is playing Craps, money is then wagered against either the house or the other players in the game. When someone plays against the other players outside of a casino setting, it is called street craps.

Craps is a famous casino game which means that there are thousands of gambling sites offering you the chance to play. But which site should you pick? Which sites allow you to enjoy online craps safely? To help guide you in the right direction, our experts have tested hundreds of sites to compile a list of the best ones with top-quality craps games.
Check out our favorite sites below and start playing craps online today:
You may be wondering how we chose which sites would be in our top list. Each gambling site we review undergoes a rigorous vetting process with specific criteria. If a site doesn’t meet our high expectations and strict criteria, then we won’t recommend it to you.
Let’s run you through our experts’ process of choosing the best gambling sites for real money online craps:
Safety is our number one concern when reviewing online casinos. We always check that a site’s gambling license is valid and that the games are certified as fair by independent testing companies. We make sure that leading SSL encryption technology is used on the site and we scour the web for any customer feedback to make sure the brand has a solid reputation.
Since many players like to practise first before betting with real cash, we score sites which offer free craps higher than those which don’t. Though it’s worth noting you can play free craps right here on VegasSlotsOnline. Free craps aside, we’ll only recommend gambling sites with the highest-quality real money craps games. We also check out the table games lobby to ensure there’s a good selection of casino staples like blackjack and video poker.
While it’s common for gambling sites to offer free spins on slot games and maybe a deposit bonus, many sites will exclude casino bonuses on certain games like online craps. Similarly to slots games for real money, generous welcome bonuses and regular promotions are always a must, we’ll still find out if the offer can be used on online craps. If it can, it’ll feature higher up our list.
Whether you want to make a deposit via credit card, debit card, Skrill, PayPal, or even Bitcoin, we believe you should have the freedom to use whatever method suits you best. That’s why we explore all the banking options, taking note of sites which offer a wide range of payment methods including those offered by crypto casinos.
Our experts make multiple withdrawals to verify that you’ll withdraw your winnings in a timely manner and hassle-free. We note the processing time and mark any delays harshly. When we recommend a craps site to you, you know you can pocket your winnings in record time.
Craps can be played land based casinos, and it is one of the easiest games to learn. Depending on where you’re from, you can even play craps at some of our best online casinos. It is a simple game and maintains only a few basic bets that one should grasp to get started playing Craps, namely the “passline” and “don’t passline” bets. However, one should note that there are more than 40 additional Craps bets, some of which are more complicated than others. These bets will need to be learned and mastered with time, and thus, new Craps players should steer clear of the more complex betting options offered at the Craps table. Eventually, with practice, additional bets will be learned and result in a deeper understanding of the game for more established Craps players.
If you truly want to become a craps pro, we recommend you check out our in-depth how to play craps guide. It’s super easy to follow and will have all the information you need to start playing craps with confidence. But if you want to quickly get to grips with the game and get started immediately, read through our quick step-by-step guide below on playing craps online:
Pick your site and launch the craps table. This can either be a regular table or a live dealer one, where you can mingle with other players in real time.
Select the stake level which suits you and get ready to start placing your bets.
When the ‘Off’ disk is showing, it means a new game is about to start. This is your chance to bet on the pass line, during the come-out roll – the first roll of the new game.
A 7 or 11 in the come-out roll means a winner (‘natural’). A 2, 3 or 12 is a loser (‘craps’). Anything else becomes the ‘point’. This will dictate your future betting for that round, so keep an eye on it.
The disk is flipped to ‘On’, which means it’s time to put your bets ‘on’. Bets continue until another 7 is rolled, which means there could be plenty of chances for you to stack up chips before the next round. Theoretically, a player could roll a single round all night!
A passline bet is an even money bet. This means that the amount you bet is the amount you stand to win. The player rolling the dice is referred to as “the shooter.” Prior to the shooter rolling his “come out roll” (first roll), the other players in the game are given the opportunity to make a passline bet on the shooter’s come out roll. For these other players to win these passline bets, the shooter’s come out roll must reveal a 7 or an 11 (these rolls are referred to at the Craps table as a “natural”); a natural automatically doubles the passline bet value(s) of the other players.
If the shooter’s come out roll results in a 2, 3, or 12, referred to as “craps,” the passline bets are lost. In the event that any other number is rolled (1, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10), that number becomes the “point number” and the shooter then hopes to roll that point number again for the win before he rolls a 7. If a 7 is rolled, the passline bets lose.
Here’s an example:
The shooter’s come out roll shows a 3 and a 5, resulting in a total of 8. Eight then becomes the point, and the dealer will indicate this by placing a marker on the number 8. If the shooter rolls an 8 again before a 7 or an 11 is rolled, the passline bets win.
The “don’t passline” bet is simply the reverse of passline bet, so that these bets gamble against the dice. Some Craps players refer to don’t passline bets as “betting wrong,” and consequently, a passline bet is called “betting right.” When you make a passline bet, you are betting to roll a 7 or 11 on the first roll, which would result in a win on that bet. But when you make a don’t passline bet, you are betting to roll a 2, 3, or 12. If it is a come out roll, a winning don’t passline bet will double your wager. If any other number is rolled, it will serve as the point, but this time, you hope that the point will not be rolled again before a 7. If a 7 is rolled, the don’t passline bets win.
Other Craps bets that you will encounter at the live and online Craps tables include field bets, hardways bets, proposition bets, big 8 bets, big 6 bets, and dozens of others. The easiest bets for beginners include the passline and don’t passline bets. Advanced players are able to also incorporate a variety of other bets for a more comprehensive Craps betting strategy. If you’re looking to take your craps play to the next level and become an advanced player, we suggest reading through our craps strategy guide. Having a system in place the next time you hit the craps table will help you secure long term profits and curb back any potential losses.
The bottom line is that Craps is an easy game to learn, but a difficult game to master. Start out with simple bets at low values and work your way up to higher stakes and varied betting systems to get the best results as you learn. Craps is one of the oldest and most popular casino games in both land-based resorts and online gaming sites. If you’re new to Craps, you will quickly realize for yourself why the game is loved by players around the globe.
Once you’ve mastered the rules of online craps, you’ll want to take the next step – developing a craps strategy to beat the house.
As with pretty much all casinos games, the house does have an edge at craps. But the edge can be very slim with certain bets. With correct strategy, this gives you a decent shot to make profit playing craps.
Here are our easy tips to win at online craps:
Give yourself an easy ride by practicing free craps online. You can place bets without worrying about the risk of losing cash. Then, when you’re comfortable, you can discover top craps tables at the best real money online casinos.
There is probably no casino game which produces the electric atmosphere you’ll find at a craps table. But this is all the more reason for you to keep a close eye on your bank balance. Measure your bets, set strict limits for each session, and you can safeguard against blowing your winnings.
When you arrive at the table, if the game is already in play, you might want to get stuck into the action – especially if the shooter is on a roll. But waiting to bet on the come-roll presents you with the chance to face a smaller house edge. You can see more about craps bet odds and house edge in our craps strategy chart below.
There are plenty of craps strategies you can follow, and some of them are incredibly simple – yet effective. If you’re a patient player who’s willing to take your time in order to get better odds, you can simply refrain from placing bets on anything except for pass, don’t pass, come, and don’t come. These each offer a slim house edge of about 1.4%. Stick to these and you’ll boost your odds of winning!
When you’re playing craps online, you’ll notice Big 6 or 8 at the table, and contrary to what you might think, the word “big” doesn’t mean big wins. They pay out even money if a 6 or 8 is rolled, so if you bet $10, you’ll win back $10. But here’s the catch – you only win if it’s rolled before a 7, otherwise you lose. Our advice is to stick with making a Place bet on 6 and 8. You’ll benefit from 7:6 payouts and a house edge of just 1.5% compared to the 9% on Big 6 or 8.
Although online craps odds are generally the same at most gaming sites, there will be some subtleties. This can be the difference between a winning and losing session. Take careful note of both the odds and special offers before you place any bets to give yourself the highest chance of success.
