King Jackpot’s a pretty solid name for a gambling site. Regal. Fortuitous. Euphoric. If a marketing agency were tasked with picking apart this brand name, they’d find a lot to like. Then they’d happen to look at the King Jackpot website and their jaws would gape. It would be fair to say that all the hard work King Jackpot have done in coming up with a kick-ass name and domain is undone upon sighting their site. It’s by no means the worst site on the web, but it’s badly showing its age.
In the current year, it’s extremely rare to encounter online casinos that offer their software by download only. Sure, there are plenty of sites out there that operate in this fashion, but they’re relics from a bygone age. Modern sites don’t do that, because modern players expect games to load in-browser to they can game on the go using their device of choice. There’s a galactic theme going on at King Jackpot, which has a series of space rocks and other flotsam in the background, rendered in regal purple. It’s only once you scroll down the page and are confronted with the mug shots of ‘recent winners’ that things start go to awry.
Like many old-fashioned sites, there are a lot of links to be clicked at King Jackpot but most of them are thankfully relegated to the footer, leaving only the essentials up top. It’s in the footer of the homepage that you’ll also find the curious name of the company behind this curious site. They’re Daub Alderney Ltd and they’re based in Alderney, the Channel Islands stronghold where many a gaming company can be found headquartered. The site is licensed by the UK Gambling Commission as well as by the Alderney Gambling Control Commission. King Jackpot is a mismatched site, one that excels – or at least passes – in some sectors and then fails miserably in others.
Halfway down the homepage, there’s a cartoon dog floating through space in an astronaut suit while proclaiming that there are ‘Jackpots out of this world!’ It’s a nice touch, one that’s ruined by the avatars of recent winners on the site. With no disrespect to the individuals pictured, they’re not the most photogenic of players (in fairness who does look good in their profile pic?) and what’s more, as the site concedes, they may not have even won these sums at King Jackpot. It all feels like a con, and one that doesn’t serve to enhance King Jackpot one iota.
King Jackpot accepts deposits made via MasterCard, Visa, Solo, Switch and Maestro, but concedes on its payments page that “many banks these days will simply decline Credit/Debit Card transactions, because they see the deposit is related to gaming”. That’s an interesting statement, and one that might have had a measure of truth in it a few years ago. It’s fair to say that nowadays however there are few banks, certainly in western nations that permit online gambling, that will take exception to gaming transactions.
Whatever the case, King Jackpot offers alternatives for customers who can’t use credit or debit card at the site. Instead, you can try Neteller, PayPal or ‘Prepaid’. What exactly is prepaid? It’s the sort of prepaid cards you can purchase at corner shops, but the site doesn’t make clear whether it’s referring to a specific brand of prepaid card or what the deal is. Whatever the case, if you are able to use credit or debit card, King Jackpot notes that the transaction will be billed as Daub Alderney Ltd or as KJackpot - Daub. There doesn’t appear to be any information about minimum deposit and withdrawal amounts.
The welcome bonus that’s promoted prominently on the homepage of King Jackpot is for a £20 free no deposit bonus. This cash can be put towards bingo or slots, with any winnings being used to fund additional play. The slots – or some of them at least – can be played instantly in-browser whereas the bingo and the remainder of the slots will need to be accessed by downloading the site’s software.
There doesn’t appear to be a whole lot else going on at King Jackpot in terms of bonuses, but the site does operate a loyalty scheme. This has six tiers to it, with players starting out at Newbie level before rising to Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and finally Diamond. There’s a 300% first deposit bonus to get you started and then a 100% third deposit bonus once you level up to Bronze. Higher loyalty levels bring redeposit bonuses, weekly promotions, a birthday bonus, a personal account manager, quicker withdrawals and other perks.

Old-fashioned casinos don’t have a games lobby per se; instead they have a preview page, where you can view screenshots of the games you’ll be able to play once you download the software to your desktop. This is as archaic as it sounds. Generally there is a limited selection of games that can be played in-browser, as is the case with King Jackpot, but the quality is never great. The sort of slots that are showcased here look extremely poor. Or rather, they are games that are starting to show their age. That’s certainly the case with the likes of Beach Break, 3 Dragons and Blackbeard’s Booty, which looks particularly disappointing.
There’s a preview section for the bingo too, where you can view the cards for the 75-ball game, the 90-ball game and also Mega Bingo. To call KJ a bingo site would be overselling it somewhat. This is a casino with the slightest smattering of bingo. At the casino, the preview images are every bit as grim, even if the games themselves are perfectly playable. Choose from the likes of Deuces Wild, Dino Keno, Jacks or Better and Roulette. The graphics, particularly in the case of Roulette, are about as low-fi as it gets, almost like something out of a late 90s PC game. On the plus side, King Jackpot have at least neatly sorted their games, displaying details such as the maximum and minimum bet alongside each one.
King Jackpot is unlikely to become your favourite new online casino, put it that way. A few years ago, this site wouldn’t have looked out of place, but that was a few years ago. A lot’s happened since then and the web has changed dramatically. In the current climate, sites like King Jackpot simply don’t cut it. There’s nothing majorly wrong with the notion of having to download software to your PC to play – this model worked for years after all – but the games need to be stronger than this. There’s very little here that might tempt you to to sign up at King Jackpot and download its clunky software.
