Deep Spinner Slot
Just by looking at Deep Spinner by Simbat you really do realise how far slot machines have come from the very early days. Like the feeling when you look back on clunky Walkmans, static video games or basic special effects. But has Deep Spinner got enough underneath the fancy visuals? Let’s check it out…
Looking at a Spin
Though this is only a 4-reel, 9-line game, there’s far more on the screen than you might think. So much so that you are offered the chance to zoom in or out. There’s far more detail on the zoom in but zooming out gives the option of the old style layout, complete with the use of the lever to play. It’s a classy touch.
The design is wonderfully modern. It’s shiny and exciting and the intermittent flickering totally implies every time you aren’t playing you are missing out. Which is far better than a haystack blowing past. During the game, the flickering is more specific, highlighting the button you need to press, which though it may irritate some is useful as the game flies by at such a speed.
The overall theme is all about hidden treasures with the letters for the game in golden yellow, next to an octopus. The game’s background has dark blue water and an old ghost ship showing how hidden it is from the surface. There’s also two open treasure chests overflowing with glittering coins. The real action is obviously where the money is.
Explaining How You Win When You Spin
Usually you have to go to the Options box to see what each symbol is worth to you, but here it is on the main screen. The Basic and Top games may not be as “simple” as labelled in the instructions, but they are well explained.
The Basic game (in the lower part) is your standard 4-reel single winning line, with 2, 3 or 4 symbols in a row. You can get more adventurous with a Head or Tail feature that allows you to double your winnings or lose it. The pirate style noises when you’ve on the Head or Tail sequence will probably make you chuckle too.
The Top game is played with bets of 5 or 10 credits and allows you to collect prizes from up to 10 winlines on 4 reels active. If you bet 10 features then a special star symbol counts as wild and you’re really in business.
Fruit is said to be good for you so your doctor won’t be complaining at the icons on offer. There are lemons, pears, grapes, watermelon, cherries and, well yes, a dollar sign. Whenever you get a set, it helpfully highlights the match you’ve just made within the three boxes that show you how much each icon is worth.
Exploring Beneath the Surface
What’s clear when looking at the buttons is just how much thought has been put into playing it and the overall experience. There’s an option to play slots for free or Play for Fun as it is called here through 10 “Fun Euros” as many times as you like. As well as letting you gain enthusiasm for the game, it also enables you to iron out any mistakes you may have and let you find your style.
Also in the Main Menu is the Login, Register and Cashout (minimum 10 Euros), as well as the Play for Real. Each is accompanied by little pictures next to the words. It’s possible to hold any of the icons you wish by clicking on any of the 4 Hold Buttons at the bottom. Collecting or resetting is easy, as is Choosing Bet.
The bottom tells you how much of your deposit you have left and how much you’ve won overall, with the individual credits and win in the middle part of the screen.
It’s made clear that Deep Spinner is just one of the many games that Simbat offers. Within the Menu button there are instructions for all 150+ games they offer, as well as alphabetical links to the games themselves within the Start button. Not just slot machines though, as bingo, casino slots and casino games can also be found.
Fast-Paced and Fun
It may not be 20,000 leagues under the sea, but a lot of effort has gone into this snazzy fast-paced game. Without a story and without too many bonuses, there’s always the risk of getting bored quickly, but this is still a well-thought out game which means there’s plenty of aquatic fun to be had.
