Gremlins Slot Machine by WMS
Gremlins is one of those films that remains a classic 30 years after it was released in theaters. It generated more than $150 million in box office revenue and the film's success resulted in a sequel - Gremlins 2: The New Batch. For those of you who aren't familiar with the film, Gremlins features the teenager Billy Peltzer, whose father purchases him a mystical creature called a Mogwai for Christmas. Mogwai are furry little creatures with a bit of a mischievous streak, and they carry a strict set of rules: Don't expose them to sunlight, don't get them wet, and never under any circumstances, EVER FEED THEM AFTER MIDNIGHT.
Unfortunately, Billy isn't able to keep his Mogwai Gizmo dry, and he ends up spawning multiple other little fuzz balls. When those guys eat fried chicken shortly after midnight, they end up transforming into evil Gremlins, which go on to terrorize Billy's home town. It then falls onto Billy, his girlfriend, and Gizmo to defeat the horde of monsters, which happened to strike on Christmas Eve.
Latest in the Line of Big WMS Releases
Chicago based gambling firm WMS has obtained the licensing rights to develop a video slot based on the Gremlins film, and it has done an excellent job of developing a slot that captures the essence of the movie while also delivering bill thrills that only a video slot can offer. Utilizing a series of two large LED high definition televisions, the Gremlins slot is really something you have to see, as the game really flashes and wows with the video clips, 3D animations, and booming sound that contains the game's classic sounds.
Double the Fun: Mogwai vs Gizmo Mode
Reel symbols in the Gremlins slot consist of Billy, his girlfriend Kate, Gizmo, Spike, the mischievous Mogwai, Gizmo's living box, poker symbols, Gizmo driving a car, and various toys. The game also includes Wilds, Scatters, and Full Reel Wild Symbols.
The game itself contains 5 reels and 40 paylines, as well as two gameplay modes: Gizmo and Gremlins. Players operating under Gremlins mode can play for the slot's progressive jackpot, which can pay out some absolutely staggering wins. Also, there is a Gremlin Bonus Feature where players will see the evil Gremlin Spike and some of his hench monsters pull Wild Symbols out of the third reel, dispersing them elsewhere after the spin stops. Another big feature will also see a Gremlin getting hit with electricity, then transforming and then building up the win multiplier up to a possibility of 20x.
Perhaps the biggest bonus mode though is that above mentioned progressive jackpot round, where players spin the reels with the goal of finding a bunch of eggs before the clock strikes midnight. If players fill all of the egg spots before this time, they win the jackpot.
The Gremlins Slot Game is One to Watch For
WMS originally teased Gremlins during the Global Gaming Expo in Las Vegas in September, 2014, and although they haven't announced a release date for this game, we do know that it is coming soon. We expect to see this game launch sometime between the end of the year or early 2015. The game will initially make its debut at casinos in North America before eventually spreading to other territories such as Europe.
If you are over the age of 30 there is a very high chance that the Gremlins impacted your life with their classic movies, and if you enjoy playing video slots at a land casino, you owe it to yourself to play Gremlins when it debuts. I think this game is poised to be a surprise hit release next year, and you will definitely want to keep it on your list as a game to look forward to on your next visit to play slots!
